I don't have any solar panels! so i don't know where they got this information from!
the letter only says ESE, the free number & the company number. No address, website or email address. Strange, so probably dodgy.

I wondered how these people could have found out that we have solar panels.
There are people cold calling about your solar panels and these people are, no doubt, selling the information on to unscrupulous companies.

Not a phone call but an unsolicited letter about solar panels offering free health check and warning about warranty and inverter. No company address, just a phone number and lots of red writing warning about warranty and new inverters, which I assume could scare some people into thinking they must take up the offer. Don't know how they got my details and I think the idea is to get you to take up the free offer but then they will get you to buy a new inverter and warranty, so I shall be giving them a miss

Received an unsolicited letter from ESE offering FREE OF CHARGE photo-voltaic health check etc.
Notice no address on letter and companies house show they're based at a convenience address, i.e., no real business/trading address listed.
The QR bar code on their letter produces a string of characters that is not a link to anything or anywhere on the web.
ESE are not known to BVPA (British Photovoltaic Association) or the Solar Trade Association.
Suspect if anyone takes up this FREE offer it'll come with a substantial price tag.
Where did they get the names and addresses of households with PV installations I wonder? Is this a job for the Information Commisioner I wonder?
Awaiting their follow-up call any day now.

I also Received a letter from ESE Consultants and numerous nuisance calls with number unknown or number unavailable from what sounds like the same company. I looked up the registered number of the company 09825685 with companies house. They were set up in October 2016 and have changed address three times since! They currently operate out of a virtual business unit in Liverpool. In effect a desk in a building to which post goes for the benefit of companies house. They are unlikely to operate from there. This can be further confirmed by the lack of a postal address on the letter and the lack of a website. Anyone claiming to be consultants should have a website. They claim in the letter and phone calls one of several things, they actually imply rather than claim so they can worm out of the truth. First that you need to upgrade your system because the warranty has run out - clearly nonsensical since we don't upgrade anything else because the warranty has run out. Secondly they claim your system is not efficient without a modern inverter - a modern inverter would be more efficient but it definitely is not worth changing it. Thirdly that your system is due for a free safety inspection - again unnecessary. They are clearly a company that does not have the moral high ground, though they could well be operating legally.
